Recipe for baking like my Granny…

These cookies are from an old family recipe which I hold very dear to my heart. I learned to make them when I was about 14 and haven’t made many changes since. If you know me, that’s a HUGE deal because I change every recipe I make! These are a holiday  “must-have” around these parts and my favorite cookie to have with apple cider. Like your typical Ginger Snaps, these are packed with flavor & spice, but unlike your typical Ginger Snaps,  they’re moist, soft, and chewy. If you want to win people over at the next holiday party, give these a try.

3/4 cup of butter
1 cup of sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup of molasses
1 teaspoon of ginger
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon of ground cloves
2 teaspoons of baking soda
2 cups of flour

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In an electric mixer, combine butter, sugar, egg, & molasses (I use my KitchenAid). In regular mixing bowl, combine ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, & flour. Slowly add dry ingredient mixture into the wet ingredients. Mix well until combined. Roll into 1-inch balls. In a small bowl, at 3T of sugar. Coat balls in sugar and place 2-inches apart on a greased cookie sheet or sill pat. Bake cookies for 8 to 10 minutes.
